EASTON, Md. - An Easton man has been arrested, after Police say he raped a co-worker at his home.
Easton Police say on May 1st, around 7:40 PM, they received a 911 call about a woman in distress on Port Street. Once on scene, Officers reportedly found that the 40-year-old woman had been raped at a home on the 100 block of Choptank Avenue.
An investigation showed that 26-year-old Melvin Alvarado-Cruz, a co-worker of the victim, asked her to come to his house, saying that he wanted to talk to her. According to the report, the victim arrived at the home, just after 6:00 PM, and went inside, at which point Alvarado-Cruz pulled the victim onto a bed, and forced her into sexual activities against her will. The victim was apparently able to get away from the suspect a short while later.
Alvarado-Cruz was charged with false imprisonment, assault 2nd degree, rape 2nd degree, sex offense 2nd degree, sex offense 4th degree sexual contact, and perverted practice. He is now being held at the Talbot County Detention Center on $100,000 bail.
