Early Worcester Co. Rabies Rates Trending 2013 Numbers

Posted: Updated:

WORCESTER CO., Md. - Last year, Worcester County saw 46 confirmed cases rabies - the second highest in the last five years.

Early numbers for 2014 show just five confirmed cases, but they're trending almost equal to the seven found this time in 2013.

Officials with the Worcester County Health Department say it's too early to tell what's ahead. The confirmed cases spiked between May and September last year, with nine cases reported in September, the most in any month.

To keep your pets protected, the Worcester County Health Department is offering rabies vaccination clinics May 14 at the Bishopsville Fire Hall, and May 15 at Worcester County Animal Control.

Both are from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and are $5 for county residents and $10 for non residents.
