EASTON, Md. - The Easton Police Department says they arrested a New York man for a hit and run and DUI yesterday.

According to reports, police investigated a call of a hit and run accident on Washington Street near Federal Street. A New York licensed vehicle was reportedly described as the suspect. Witnesses said a man was yelling from the car at other motorists and backed into a vehicle parked nearby. The suspect vehicle then allegedly sped away.

Police say they located the vehicle within minutes and identified the driver as Thomas Conaway Higdon, 41, of Brentwood, New York. Higdon was reportedly charged with multiple counts of moving violations to include Negligent Driving, Unsafe Backing, DUI, DWI and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. Police say Higdon was also wanted on other charges including theft and forgery for a Warrant issued in Anne Arundel County. He was reportedly taken before the Commissioner and then to the Detention Center on $15,000.00 bond.
