DOVER, Del. - Police say a tip has lead to the arrest of the second suspect in connection with the kidnapping and assault of an elderly Dover man, that happened in April.

Dover Police say 38-year-old Timothy Safford, was arrested on Friday, in Mississippi, after the US Marshall's Task Force got a tip from a female acquaintance of his, saying that Safford was staying in the area. The acquaintance was apparently able to positively ID Safford on the Dover PD website. According to the tipster, Safford was bragging about his crime.

He is currently at the Jackson County Jail, being held while waiting for extradition on no bond. Pending charges for Safford include, kidnapping 1st degree, robbery 1st degree, assault 1st degree, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, conspiracy 2nd degree, criminal mischief under $1,000, and theft of a motor vehicle.

The charges stem from an April 17th incident, where Police alleged that 33-year-old Shirley Smith and Safford confronted an 82-year-old man at his South Halsey Road home, where they forced him inside, tied him up, cut his ear, and stabbed him multiple times, before fleeing in his car with his cash and bank card. The victim was able to free himself after nearly seven hours, and contact Police.
