A very slow moving low pressure system, has been giving the peninsula a rainy workweek. On Tuesday morning the warm front of the system pushed north through our region, this allowed for temperatures to begin to rise through Tuesday afternoon. Usually a cold front follows the warm front within a day but with this slow system it took over 2.5 days to see the cold front pass. So since Delmarva was under the warm front for so long we had gradually warming conditions from Tuesday at midnight through Thursday night. From midnight Tuesday (49°) through noon Thursday (73°) the temperature increased 24 degrees. Warmer weather is still here through the weekend with highs in the lower 70s.
