May Averages Across Delmarva

Posted:

The month of May has finally arrived and that means a lot of things. The weather will become warmer, the days will get longer, and of course the beaches open for the summer in about 24 days!

The following averages are for Salisbury: The average high temperature for May 1st is 70 degrees and the average low is in the upper 40s. By May 31st, the average high will be close to 80. In just 30 days our average high temperature jumps nearly ten degrees. Overnight lows will be quite mild as well, into the upper 50s. This month warms up quickly and that is probably good news for many people. The attached image (from weatherspark.com) is a good illustration of the increase in temperature through the month.

Not only are the temperatures increasing, there's also an increase in the amount of sunlight. Salisbury experiences 13 hours and 49 minutes of daylight on May 1st, but by the end of May there's 14 hours and 39 minutes of daylight. So in just 30 days we add almost an hour of daylight.

Welcome to the month of May! Soon we will all be at the beaches!
