Second Motorcyclist Dies After Sunday Afternoon Georgetown Crash

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A second person has died after a Sunday afternoon crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Georgetown.

Delaware State Police say 78-year-old Bobby Luzader, of Dover, the driver of a three wheel motorcycle that was cut in half during a collision with a 1996 Lincoln Town Car on Sunday on DuPont Boulevard, has succumbed to injuries from the crash on Monday evening.

Luzader's passenger, 65-year-old Jane Kauffman, of Harrington, who had been rushed from the scene on to Beebe Hospital, then flown to Christian Hospital, was pronounced dead on Sunday. Both Luzader and Kauffman were reportedly wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Town Car, 78-year-old Marianne Worley, of Millsboro, was treated on Sunday for minor injuries at Beebe Hospital, then released.

Police say it all happened around 3:45 PM on Sunday when the 2005 Honda GL8 three wheel motorcycle was driving on DuPont Boulevard coming up to the intersection of Speedway Road, when the Town Car crossed into its path. According to the report, the motorcycle swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the Town Car hit the left side of the motorcycle, splitting it in half, and ejecting both riders.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is reportedly still investigating the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
