YORK, Pa. – Several of the Salisbury University softball players and coaches were honored today by the Capital Athletic Conference as they announced the 2014 all-conference softball team. Nine players earned first-team honors, along with earning the Coach of the Year.
Junior Rachel Johnson earned her second-consecutive Player of the Year Award, marking the 18th year in a row that a Sea Gull has been named the top player in the CAC. Incredibly, Johnson has notched five solo and one combined no-hitter this season, with three of her no-hitters being perfect games. Joining her with first-team honors are senior Kathryn Larson, junior Rebecca Hoey, senior Harley Hill, sophomore Molly Simpson, sophomore Kim Dorsey, sophomore Katie Sebbane, senior Angelia McDowell and sophomore Paige Knussman.
Head Coach Margie Knight, who has led the Sea Gulls to a 33-3 record thus far, was honored by the league's coaches as the Coach of the Year for the seventh-straight season and 13th time overall.
The Sea Gulls will continue their 2014 season with a doubleheader at Stevenson University on Sunday, April 17, beginning at 1 p.m
