Baltimore, Md. – The Delaware State track & field program took part in the Morgan State Legacy competition as the men finished 15th (15.50 points) out of 26 teams, while the women placed 20th (eight points) out of 25 squads.
Several athletes for the men's team turned in very impressive performances including Sharad Mackey, Gary Melton, Alpha Manaray and David Okeke whom finished second (42.23) behind Howard in the 4x100-Meter Relay. Melton also performed well in the individual events, as he came in fifth (22-07.50 – 6.89m) in the Long Jump, whereas Charles Wulff-Cochrane also placed fifth in the 400-Meter Hurdles with a time of 53.65.
On the women’s side, Ketsia Dornevil led the way for the Hornets with a fifth place (2:13.68) finish in the 800 Meters, followed by Maria Gwengi taking sixth in the Shot Put with a mark of 42-02.75 (12.87m). Coming up, the Hornets will host the DSU Meet this Tuesday at Alumni Stadium.
