Baltimore, Md. –
The Delaware State softball team (24-15, 9-3 MEAC) fell in a close ball game to the Morgan State Bears (5-19, 2-10 MEAC) 2-1. The Hornets had entered the matchup leading the overall head-to-head series 2-0.
DSU was the first on the board in the opening frame when Jessica Madrid knocked a RBI single. But MSU would come right back in the bottom of the first, powered by a two run home run. Those scores proved to be the only of the game as both pitchers settled down and began playing great defense from there on out.
In all, DSU recorded eight scattered hits and stranded nine runners on base. Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will play their final home games of the 2014 season when the Drexel Dragons visit Thursday for a doubleheader (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.). The two squads met twice earlier in the season during the Pirate Snow Classic as DSU won both games, 4-3
