Area Police To Host Drug Take Back Events On Saturday

Posted: Updated:

DELMARVA - Local law enforcement agencies will be participating an a nationwide drug take back initiative. On Saturday, April 26th, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, many police departments from around Delmarva will be hosting locations, where residents can drop off their unused and expired medications. These events are being in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration's Drug Take Back Event.

This service is free, anonymous, and no questions will be asked. The goal of the event is to remove medicines from locations, that could lead to misuse, abuse, or accidental poisonings or overdoses.

Studies apparently show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Authorities warn that flushing medicines down the toilet, or throwing them away, both cause safety and health hazards.
