MILTON, Del. - A cemetery, is for many people, a sanctuary.  A place to remember loved ones who've passed, but Saturday afternoon, things apparently took a sinister turn, when an elderly man was attacked in a graveyard off Union Street in Milton.

"It's heartbreaking to hear," says Joe, a longtime resident of the small Delaware town.

According to police, an 82 year-old man was laying flowers at a plot in the cemetery, when sometime between 3:30 and 5:00 PM, he was attacked and robbed in broad daylight.

It's the kind of thing folks like Cindi Bradford says they'd never expect to hear in Milton, saying "it's too close to home.  It makes me worry about my kids more than anything."

For Joe, it's an unfortunate sign of the times, "just seems like, with the influx of all of the people coming into this town you get bad people unfortunately."

After the attack, police say the suspect fled on Union Street, toward SR 16.  The only description: a man wearing a gray hoodie.  As for the elderly victim, he was taken to Christiana Hospital and is recovering from a head wound.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
