Serious Crash In Laurel Under Investigation

Posted: Updated:

LAUREL, Del. - Police say they are investigating a serious single vehicle crash, that happened on Thursday night, near Laurel.

Delaware State Police say around 10:15 PM, 24-year-old Rodney Lee Grant, of Laurel, was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pick-up truck on East Trap Pond Road, near Shiloh Church Road. According to the report, Grant drove off the road, hit a driveway culvert causing it to become airborne. Police say when the truck landed, it overturned, hit a tree, and stopped on its roof.

Grant was apparently not wearing a seat belt, and had to be flown from the scene to Christiana Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition. Troopers say they are continuing their investigation into this incident, and that both speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.

East Trap Pond Road was closed from three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
