Wicomico Softball Downs Snow Hill in Thriller

Posted: Updated:

Salisbury, MD - The Wicomico softball team returned home Thursday afternoon noon for a match up against Snow Hill. The Indians jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first off a towering grand slam to right. Wicomico would add another two run shot to take a 6-1 lead. But the Eagles would respond, stringing along a runs in the 5th and 6th.

Headed to the 7th, Wicomico was clinging to a 6-4 lead when Snow Hill got runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Following a strike out, the Eagles would tie the game with a 2 RBI single. In the bottom of the 7th, the Indians would look to find an answer. Following a single and a walk, they would load the bases with a bunt with no outs. The Indians offense sputtered there though, as they were unable to score the go-ahead run.

They would head to extras, and in the 8th Snow Hill would grab the lead off a RBI single to left. With one last chance, the Indians would tie the game off a single to right. After stealing second, Wicomico would win in walk off fashion as a pass ball lead to the game winning run.

Snow Hill returns to action Tuesday when they host Stephen Decatur. Wicomico also returns to action Tuesday when they host Parkside.
