House Fire Under Investigation In Cambridge

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A Cambridge home went up in flames earlier today.

Officials with the Cambridge Rescue Fire Company say the call came in at about 3:40 PM on the 200 block of Mill Street, and by the time they got to the scene, the fire had gotten into the walls and attic. Officials say the fire became dangerous and they had to pull their crew back outside, use water to contain the fire, then go back inside to contain the rest. There were no reported injuries in the blaze.

Neighbors tell 47 ABC the home was one of the most historic structures on the block.

"It was a very intense fire," says John Ondrick, a neighbor. "This is a historic beautiful section as you know and it's sad to see it, but it developed very quickly."

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is reportedly investigating the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, fire officials are urging homeowners to make sure their heating and air equipment is working properly with the season change coming up.
