Freezing Temperatures Return - 47 ABC - Delmarva's Choice

Freezing Temperatures Return

After a weekend of beautiful weather and spring like temperatures, Mother Nature is sending a rude awakening in the form of cold temperatures. Lows tonight and tomorrow night will be in the lower 30s which is about 10 degrees below average for this time of year. Because of the likely hood of subfreezing temperatures, the National Weather Service as issued a Freeze Warning for the majority of the peninsula tonight. The Freeze Warning begins at 3 AM and ends at 9 AM Wednesday morning

As temperatures have been on the increase for the past few weeks, conditions have been ripe for the planting and growing of plants, crops, and other vegetation. Due to the unexpected and unseasonal winter like temperatures, it is suggested that sensitive plants are protected or moved indoors.

The sub freezing overnight lows are in response to a strong cold front which brings a shot of cold air from the north. As the front clears, sunshine returns Wednesday, though clear skies and calming winds will allow for another night of temperatures close to freezing. By the end of the week, temperatures will return closer to average.
