Fatal Crashes In DE Higher Than This Time Last Year

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Four fatal crashes occurred on Delaware roadways during the weekend of April 11 - 13, claiming the lives of 5 people.

This brings the number of people killed on Delaware roads since January 1, 2014 to 28, compared to 20 at this time last year.

The Office of Highway Safety has conducted several traffic safety enforcement and education campaigns this year.

Additional enforcement and educational plans are in the works for the remainder of the year.

These programs target speeding, impaired driving, motorcycle, and pedestrian laws.

Officials urge the easiest way to reduce the risk of being involved in a crash is to practice safe driving behaviors, such as putting the phone down, avoid driving when you're tired, and wearing a seatbelt.
