Salisbury Cocaine Dealer Sentenced To 10 Years

Posted: Updated:

BALTIMORE, Md. - A Salisbury man will spend the next 10 years behind bars, after being sentenced on drug dealing charges.

On Friday, a judge sentenced 37-year-old Ranson Chandler, Jr., to 123 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, on conspiracy to distribute to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine, and for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

According to Chandler's plea agreement, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force's investigation showed that during October and November of 2012, Chandler conspired with 35-year-old Terron Crump, of Fruitland, to distribute cocaine on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

On November 28th, 2012 Officers reportedly observed a drug transaction between the two at the Route 50 Diner, in Salisbury, and when officers attempted to arrest Chandler, he tried to flee, and crashed his vehicle into one with three law enforcement officers inside. During the arrest, officers reportedly found 68 grams of cocaine on Chandler, along with another 197 grams of cocaine, and a loaded, and stolen, 9mm handgun in his vehicle.

Officials say the evidence showed that Chandler and his co-conspirators distributed more than 500 grams of cocaine from June 2012 through November 28th, 2012. Crump pleaded guilty to his role in the conspiracy, and was scheduled to a year and one day in prison.
