One Arrested After Apparent Attempted Robbery In Georgetown

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A Georgetown man is behind bars, after he apparently tried to rob a woman at a local car wash. Georgetown Police say on Thursday, around 3:30 PM, they were called to Kleen Kat Car Wash, on Burger King Lane, where they met with a 35-year-old woman.

According to the report, the woman told officers that she was approached by a man asking for a dollar, while she was sitting in her car, and as she was pulling a dollar from a bank envelope, the man apparently told her to give her all the money in the envelope, because he had a knife. Police say the woman was able to roll-up her window, and drive away, and the man apparently fled the area.

Police reportedly found 47-year-old Rodney Hopkins, who was apparently positively identified by the victim, a few blocks away near Bramhall Street. He was charged with attempted robbery, and trespassing, and is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute on bond, with a future court date.
