Wicomico Co. Working On Budget, Not Yet Out Of Recession,

Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO CO., Md. - Wicomico County hasn't yet pulled itself out of the recession.  That's according to the county's latest budget report.

At Thursday's public input meeting, County Executive Rick Pollitt said the 2015 budget will focus on improvements to county roads, funding for Wor-Wic Community College, and The County is working with the State's Attorney's office and Health Department to address mental health issues, which impact crime.  Because of a not yet recovered economy -- officials say they're being cautious.

"There are a few modest increases in the budget designed to invest in our community, but overall, the main thing we have to keep in mind is we're still not in recovery yet.  We're not out of the woods," says Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt, "we've had decreases all through the budget from what was requested of us, so we're still in progress, the budget isn't complete."

The 2015 budget for Wicomico county is due to the County Council on Tuesday, and will be finalized in June.
