Online Access To Gov't Data Varies Across Delmarva

Posted: Updated:

DELMARVA - Do you ever wonder where your taxpayer dollars go?

According to an annual report card released by the Maryland PIRG Foundation, some areas in Delmarva fare better than others when it comes to reporting where taxpayer dollars go.

The report shows that Virginia received a B+, and Maryland received a B-, reportedly up from a C last year. However, Delaware fared much lower on the scale with a D+.

Due to a newly passed law in Maryland, the state's grade has room to improve. Governor Martin O'Malley signed a measure on Tuesday called the "Council on Open Data." The group includes 37 members involved in the state government tasked with making sure open data is machine readable, and released to the public in ways that make the data easy to find, accessible, and usable.
