DE Food Bank Offers Prize Money For Schools That Increase Breakfast Participation

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - Schools in Delaware now have the chance to vie for prize money if they increase participation in the school breakfast program.

According to the Food Bank of Delaware, Only 52.1% of students who get free and reduced lunches at school, also get breakfast.

So the Food Bank is putting $20,000 to fund ten grants, in an effort to raise those numbers.

State officials and the Food Bank announced the grant program Monday, which will compare school breakfast numbers in October 2013 and October 2014.

Schools that increase participation, are eligible for the cash.

The Food Bank is currently fundraising for those grants, and we're told they've already received a few commitments. If your organization is interested in funding the project, call Dan Reyes at 302-292-1305 ext 206.
