Crisfield Police Department Gets New Military Grade Truck

CRISFIELD, Md. - A local police department has received an new truck from a government agency.

The Crisfield Police Department says they have acquired a 2012 5 ton truck, with 7,000 miles on it, from the Defense Logistics Agency, for free.

The department plans to use the truck during emergency events like evacuations during hurricanes. The City of Crisfield Department of Public Works will also reportedly be using the truck for construction projects.

Officials say the only cost for the city in acquiring the vehicle, will be getting tags for it from the Motor Vehicle Administration. The Crisfield Police Department will be responsible for maintaining and inspecting the truck, with regard to future audits from the Federal Government.

The truck is reportedly valued at $67,139.
