Two Vehicle Crash In Milton Sends 9 To Areas Hospitals

Posted: Updated:

MILTON, Del. - An early morning crash in Milton sent nine people to the hospital.

Delaware State Police say around 6:41 AM, 63-year-old Mary Ruark was driving a 2008 Ford Escape on Round Pole Bridge Road, coming up on the Cave Neck Road, when 28-year-old Angel Jimenez who was driving a 2000 Ford E350 15 passenger van, failed to stop at the stop sign, and continued into the intersection. According to the report, the van was unable to avoid the collision, and hit the Escape on the passenger's side.

Ruark, who was apparently wearing a seat belt, had to be removed from the vehicle by mechanical mean, and then airlifted to Christiana Medical Center, where she is currently admitted with non-life threatening injuries.

Jimenez, who was reportedly wearing a seat belt, was uninjured and didn't need on-scene medical attention, but five passengers in the van were taken to Beebe Medical Center, while three others were taken to Milford Memorial, all with non-life threaten injuries. Police say the two other passengers did not require any medical attention.

Troopers say they are continuing their investigation into this incident, and charges are pending. The intersection at Round Pole Bridge Road and Cave Neck Road was closed for around two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared by officials.
