Construction For New Crosswalk Underway In Berlin

Posted: Updated:

BERLIN, Md. - Construction for a new crosswalk is underway at the intersection of Bay Street and Route 113 in Berlin.

A member of the town's Pedestrian Safety Committee says builders have started work on ADA-compliant sidewalks, which will eventually lead to a marked crosswalk with turning lanes. The speed limit will also reportedly drop from 55 mph to 45 mph.

Residents have worked to make the area safer after a deadly crash in November 2013, in which a Maryland State Police car struck and killed one teenage boy and severely injured another.
