Farmington Chicken House Fire Ruled Accidental

Posted: Updated:

FARMINGTON, Del. - A chicken house fire in Farmington, has been ruled accidental. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office says a neighbor reported the blaze just before 5:50 PM on Tuesday night, in the 250 block of Flat Iron Road.

Once on scene, the Farmington Fire Company reportedly found smoke coming from the end of a chicken house. Authorities say the fire was quickly put out, and no injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal's Office says their investigation found the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction in a feed control switch, and ruled it accidental. Fire and smoke damage was apparently contained to the end of the chicken house, and damages are estimated at $10,000.
