Mall Clear, Police Searching For Suspect

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The Centre at Salisbury has been cleared after a bomb threat was called in late Friday morning.

Authorities say the Sussex County 911 Center received the initial phone call just before 10:30 a.m., and notified the Salisbury Police.

According to reports, the caller had a Middle Eastern accent and claimed his cousin placed a bomb at the mall. He was trying to find his relative, but couldn't locate him. The call was disconnected shortly afterward.

Mall management was contacted, and decided to evacuate the area to complete a search.  Authorities from Delaware and Maryland State Police, Salisbury Police and Fire Departments, the Sheriff's Department, FBI and a number of other agencies responded.

We're told they conducted extensive searches to clear both the inside and outside of the mall, leaving people scrambling and in fear.

"I started to hear all the other mall people say there was a bomb threat and that we needed to evacuate as soon as possible," said Stacey Daniels, a mall employee.

The Salisbury Police Department is still attempting to locate and identify the caller. Anyone with information should contact Crime Solvers at (410) 548-17-76.

A reward of up to $1,000 is available for tips that lead to an arrest.
