Today (March 26th) is a very windy day with gusts up to 40 mph and sustained winds of 20-25 mph. This is due to a strong low pressure system sitting in the Atlantic to our Northeast. The picture attached depicts a 0.5 millibar gradient over satellite imagery of the low. As meteorologists know, the tighter the gradient the stronger the winds. Some gusts in Maine are reaching 45-50 mph with sustained winds of 30-35 mph. The low will exit the area tonight and early tomorrow as a string of 3 low pressure systems moves into the region, giving the Mid-Atlantic States a rainy weekend.
