Tractor Trailer Crash Closes Two Lanes On Bay Bridge

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND - One lane of the Westbound Bay Bridge has reopened, after a crash involving two tractor trailers.

All three lanes of the Westbound span had been closed, but officials say the left lane has since reopened to traffic. The Maryland Transportation Authority says a fuel spill from the accident, is keeping the right and center lanes of the westbound span closed. Units are reportedly on scene dealing with the clean up.

Officials say that two way operations are unlikely on Wednesday, due to the wind restriction I being in effect. Drivers may experienced delays in crossing this evening.

The wind restriction means that house trailers, empty box trailers or any vehicle that, in the opinion of law-enforcement personnel, may not safely cross the bridge will be prohibited from traveling the bridge. Motorists who aren't allowed to cross will be assisted with safely turning around.
