Stormwater Utility Fee May Be On Hold In Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A stormwater utility fee in Salisbury does not seem likely in the near future.

City council members say they were supposed to have a final vote last night, but residents brought up more questions and concerns, so they are taking the matter back to work session. After that, they reportedly have 60 days to have another hearing, or else it is back to square one of the legislative process.

Councilwoman Laura Mitchell says she thinks it will have to go back through the process.

Originally, the fee was supposed to be an annual $20 flat rate fee, and the utility would also be listed separately from property tax, making the city eligible for state and federal funding to help with citywide storm water upgrades.
