ANGOLA, Del. - The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit says they are currently investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle rider.

According to reports, the occurred around 8:40 PM Saturday evening as Victor A. Cruz was operating a 2004 Honda CBR motorcycle eastbound in the right lane of East Chestnut Hill Road (SR4) approaching the intersection of South Kingston Road.  At the same time, a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup being operated by Erasto C. Bernal, was reportedly turning left from the westbound lane of East Chestnut Hill Road onto South Kingston Road.  As the truck began to cross the eastbound lanes of East Chestnut Hill Road, the front of the motorcycle reportedly struck the right rear of the Dodge in the intersection.  While the pickup truck came to a controlled stop on South Kingston Road, Cruz was allegedly thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the left lane west of the intersection.  Police say a 2003 Honda CRV, being operated by Dustyn R. Thompson, was traveling eastbound in the left lane of SR4 and struck Cruz as he was still in the roadway.  The Honda CRV reportedly continued eastbound and came to a controlled stop just west of Marrows Road.

Police say Victor Cruz, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Christian Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Erasto Bernal and his female passenger, along with Dustyn Thompson and his female passenger were reportedly not injured in the collision.

Police say the Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and no charges have been filed at this time.  Alcohol reportedly does not appear to be a factor in this crash.  Police say SR4 eastbound lanes were closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
