Green Hill Yacht & Country Club Scholarship

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - In 1994, a local family donated an endowment to Green Hill Yacht & Country Club. Since 2006, they've been giving out one $1,000 scholarship per year, available to qualifying students in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties.

"This is for both public and private schools so we want to publicize that fact...and wor-wic community college is involved in this list," says James McNaughton, Co-Chair of the Scholarship Committee.

The scholarship doesn't focus on any particular career path but it does focus on merit. Applicants can choose to write an essay as well, which McNaughton says would count for additional points.

Students can pick up applications at their guidance office, and it's also available online at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore's website, www.cfes.org.

"Sometimes there are interviews," according to McNaughton, "We did not interview last year because we had a pretty clear, but if there are two or three that are close, we might request an interview."

The deadline for applications is April 15th.
