More Trouble: DNREC Seeks $8.3M From DE Recycling Facility

Posted: Updated:

CAMDEN, Del. - Seven months after a Camden recycling facility was forced to close after dozens of violations, the owner may soon be forking over millions of dollars.

DNREC is seeking $8.3 million from Mike Davidson Enterprises to cover costs of loading, transporting and proper disposal of what they say is more than 100,000 tons of material still on his property.

Back in August, WMDT reported about the issues at the facility, which include improper storage of waste and contaminated materials.

DNREC says it will impose an "administrative penalty of up to $10,000 per day for each violation against MDE as a chronic violator", the first chronic violator complaint from the First State.
