Westover Man Charged With Burglary In Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A Westover man is behind bars, after he reportedly violated a protective order, and burglarized a home. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says a Deputy arrived at a home on Overbrook Drive, and found 36-year-old Derek Whittington standing in the driveway.

Police say there is a protective order barring Whittington from the property. An investigation reportedly showed that the home was owned by family members of Whittlington, and that he had forced his way into the house through a back window, while no one was home.

Whittington was arrested, and charged with 3rd and 4th degree burglary, trespassing, and violation of a protective order. The Deputy says Whittington was uncooperative during the arrest, to the point where he refused to speak to or identify himself to the Deputy. He is now being held at the Detention Center on $60,000 bond.
