UPDATE: One Dead, One Injured In Trooper Involved Incident In Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Maryland State Police have confirmed a fatal Trooper involved shooting Tuesday evening in Salisbury. According to Maryland State Police, Troopers fatally wounded a man who may have struck or dragged a State Trooper with his car while trying to avoid police.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the man entered the Salisbury Barrack shortly before 8:30PM and asked the on-duty officer to check a vehicle repair he had made after receiving a safety equipment repair order. The duty officer went with the man outside to the parking lot. Moments later, he called for assistance, to which another Trooper responded. At this time, it is believed both troopers fired their guns.

The duty officer was found lying along the edge of the parking lot near the entrance to Route 13. He was taken to PRMC and his condition is unknown at this time. The man who had come to the barrack was found in his vehicle after his car slammed into the center median guardrail. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation and the suspect nor the Troopers involved have been identified at this time. We'll be sure to bring you more on this story at it develops.
