NEW CASTLE/KENT CO., Del. - A New Castle man is behind bars after allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman over a two year period. According to Delaware State Police, the investigation began in January of 2013.

The victim, a 25-year-old woman, reported a confrontation in a Wilmington parking lot. Authorities say the victim told them 35-year-old Jorge Arellano approached her, forcing her into his vehicle at gunpoint, touched her inappropriately and threatened her. The two are said to know one another.

In this instance the victim was able to get away, however further investigation revealed that between 2010 and 2011, Arellano allegedly raped the victim nine times. WMDT has learned that on two of these occasions there were two young children in the vicinity of where the crime took place.

Arellano was also wanted by Dover Police in connection to the burglary of this same victim's home in May 2011. Authorities say in that crime, he allegedly came in through a window and assaulted both the unidentified female victim and a male acquaintance.

After obtaining warrants for the reported crimes, Troopers arrested Arellano Monday night. This happened during a traffic stop on Route 13 in New Castle. Troopers say during the stop, Arellano gave a fake name, but they were able to determine his actual identity.

He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $1,708,000 cash bail on the following charges: 9 counts of first degree rape, first degree unlawful sexual contact, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravating menacing, unlawful imprisonment second degree, first degree burglary, second degree assault, strangulation, terroristic threatening, 4 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief under $1,000.
