Crossfit Lewes Raises Thousands For Domestic Violence

Posted: Updated:

LEWES, Del. - Crossfit has taken the fitness world by storm over the past few years, and now, one gym is trying to make a difference in a different way.

Saturday, Crossfit Lewes had its second "Share The Pain" competition.  More than one hundred athletes competed in the event, which aims to raise money to establish safe housing for families ready to leave the safe programs shelter, which supports victims of domestic violence.

"Crossfit members introduce family and friends to crossfit and can give back to the community and it becomes a fitness challenge and fundraiser," says Kris Carper, owner of CrossFit Lewes.

"I think it's a wonderful event to see the support and everyone coming together for a great cause," says Kris Jarecki, one of the participating athletes.

Crossfit Lewes says they raised $33,000 for the SAFE program with today's event.
