UPDATE: HVAC Unit To Blame For Fruitland Wal-Mart Evacuation

FRUITLAND, Md. - Crews investigated a reported gas leak at a Fruitland superstore on Friday afternoon. Customers and employees were apparently asked to exit Wal-Mart, around 1:30 PM.

Fruitland Fire Department says there was an issue with one of the heating HVAC units on the roof. The problem was reportedly with a motor, that was putting fumes in through the vents.

Crews were able to get the fumes out, and the store should is able to return to normal operations.
