Soldier Returns Home After 10 Months In Afghanistan

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Well, it was a pretty special night for one family welcoming a soldier home from war.

Joel Dixon's plane touched down at the Salisbury airport just before 9:30 Thursday night.  The Army soldier was in Afghanistan for the past 10 months.

WMDT spoke with him and his family on what it means to finally be back home.

"Ecstatic," says Joel's mother Lois Ruark, "I couldn't wait for him to see his daughter."

Joel said "I am ecstatic.  I've been  looking forward to this day since we first left in April.  So, it's a huge to see all the people who came out."

Operation We Care helped organize the Welcome Home.
