EASTON, Md. - Police say a suspected drunk driver is on the loose after reportedly opening fire at State Police in Easton.
According to reports, Maryland State Police are currently searching for the suspect near the Easton airport. Authorities say early Thursday morning, a Maryland State Trooper attempted a routine traffic stop near the intersection of Route 50 and Route 404 for a suspected drunk driver and when the officer was conducting a field sobriety test, officials say the driver fled the scene in his car.
After a brief pursuit, reports say the driver stopped in the area of the Easton Airport, got out of his car, and then reportedly fired on officers. Authorities say troopers did fire back, but neither the suspect or any of the troopers were hit by gunfire. According to reports, the suspect then fled the scene on foot. Police say there are no evacuations at this time.
