Three Charged On Alcohol Citations At MADD Panel

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Three men attending a drunk driving impact panel, were all charged for alcohol related offenses on Tuesday.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says around 6:15 PM, a Deputy was at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center participating in the Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel, where DUI offenders were meeting with victims of drunk driving. Police say 66-year-old Alvin Powell of Snow Hill, approached the sign in table, and the Deputy could see that he was clearly intoxicated and smelled of alcohol.

An investigation showed that Powell had driven himself and 34-year-old Jason Lynch, of Snow Hill, to the Civic Center, and that Lynch had also been drinking. Lynch was apparently required to attend the panel, after a recent DUI conviction.

After checking on the vehicle that Powell and Lynch arrived in, the Deputy reportedly found 66-year-old Ronald Lynch, of Snow Hill, in the backseat, with an open container of beer along with a cooler full of beer. Police say Ronald Lynch was also visibly under the influence of alcohol.

The Deputy then apparently gave a sobriety and a breath tests to Powell. The breath test measured .15. Powell was arrested, and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol per se, while both Jason and Ronald Lynch were charged with consumption of alcohol on public property. All three subjects were then released to sober drivers.
