Salisbury Leaders Present State Of The City Address At SU

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury leaders presented their "State of the City" address Tuesday night.

Mayor Jim Ireton and City Council President Jake Day reflected on the 2013 year in front of a crowd of residents and other city leaders at Salisbury University. The pair focused on crime and neighborhoods, spending, downtown revitalization, and legislative and department accomplishments.

Mayor Ireton and Day say that Salisbury is now in a sound economic position to continue to move forward.

"In those 11 months I feel like we have worked hard to restore pride in Salisbury, restore prosperity to our community, and restore partnership to city government," says Day. "I believe that sets us free to do so much more."

Mayor Ireton and Day also presented maps of plans to re-structure the downtown area, including new tree and lighting patterns, increased landscape, and outdoor dining.
