MD Preserves 100+ Acres of Farmland In Somerset County

MARYLAND - The state of Maryland preserved more than 100 acres of farmland on the eastern shore this week.

Wednesday, the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation purchased $284, 744.33 worth of farmland in Somerset County.

The state pays property owners for their land, with the promise that it will only be used for farming.

State wide, the foundation approved the purchase of nearly 1,200 acres of farmland.
