UPDATE: New Obesity Report Ranks Delaware 3rd In The Nation

DELAWARE - A new "Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index" ranks Delaware third in the nation for obesity.

The statistics show that a third of Delawareans are obese, just behind West Virginia and Mississippi with the top two spots. According to the poll, people living in the 10 states with the highest levels of obesity are more likely to have had a diagnosis of chronic diseases like high blood pressure and depression.

"I think it's a very sad thing, people living lifestyles that are so unhealthy," said Phil Figgs.

The other two states on the peninsula rank much lower on the list with both Maryland and Virginia's obesity rate is at about 25 percent.
