Governor Lifts Driving Warning For Northern DE

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Gov. Jack Markell has lifted a state of emergency and driving warning for northern Delaware but urged motorists to exercise caution as a winter storm continued to dump snow on the mid-Atlantic region.

The driving warning for New Castle County was to expire at 2 p.m. Monday, but warnings remained in place for Kent and Sussex counties, which were expected to get more snow than northern Delaware.

About four inches of snow was expected in New Castle County, and 6 to 8 inches in Kent and Sussex. But updated forecasts no longer showed the possibility of a wedge of heavier accumulation in southern Kent County, where the local emergency management director referred to "a sleepy little snowstorm."

Government offices and all schools in Delaware were closed Monday.
