UPDATE: Two Vehicle Crash In Lewes Sends One To Hospital

Posted: Updated:

LEWES, Del. - The Delaware State Police are investigating a two vehicle crash that sent one man to the hospital.

The incident occurred Thursday around 2PM on John J. Williams Highway in Lewes, just West of Mulberry Knoll Road.  Police say 25-year-old Steven Jester Jr. of Smyrna was traveling in the westbound lane at the same time as 49-year-old Raymond Conrad Jr. of Greensboro, MD. Conrad attempted to avoid Jester's vehicle by swerving to the right and onto the shoulder, where the front left corners of both vehicles collided. The impact caused Conrad's pickup truck to overturn, while Jester's Hyundai continued eastbound and rotated counter-clockwise before coming to a stop in the eastbound lanes.

Jester was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where he was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries. Conrad was slightly injured, but refused on-scene medical attention.

Police say this is still an active investigation and charges are pending.  SR-24 was closed for approximately 90 minutes while the crash was investigated and cleared.
