$5.7M Upgrades Proposed For Perdue Stadium

Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO CO., Md. - Officials are working with the Delmarva Shorebirds to make sure the boys of summer stick around.

The team's lease is up next year.

Consulting company Crossroads Consulting Services of Tampa, Fla working with both the club and the county released its recommendations to improve the stadium for the future. Among the changes, improved seating for spectators and a new video board.

"Obviously, the county has an investment here at Perdue Stadium and we do that through our contributions of budget time," said Rick Pollitt, Wicomico Co. Executive. "We make the best with what we have and we will not be raising taxes in order to do these improvements."

In all, the changes could end up costing $5.7 million dollars with at least 20 jobs expected to be created within the county.
