UPDATE: Berlin Wins America's Coolest Small Town Contest

Posted: Updated:

BERLIN, Md. - Thanks to your votes, a town right here on Delmarva has been voted the coolest in the whole country.

It was announced on Tuesday morning, just 11 hours after voting ended, that Berlin, Maryland was voted Budget Travel's America's Coolest Small Town 2014. Berlin grabbed more than 28 percent of the overall votes among 15 finalists.

The town will get bragging rights and a spot on Budget Travel's magazine and web site.

Mayor Gee Williams says this will help the tourism industry on Delmarva and continue the economic surge the town of Berlin has been experiencing for the past five years.

Berlin officials are now planning for a big celebration, slated to happen sometime in March.

Williams is set to receive a growler of craft beer from Cazenovia, New York's Mayor Kurt Wheeler. Cazenovia was trailing Berlin in the contest and placed second in the contest.
