SU's Zack White Shatters School Track Records

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - S.U. athlete Zack White jumped right into history this weekend at the 2014 Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, breaking two school records that have been in place since 1976.

"The coach was like 'I think that might be a record.' And I said, 'Record? I didn't think I'd win any records today!'"

In the long jump, he hit 23' 0.76", almost six inches longer than the previous record. The jump It puts him in the top 20 in the nation.

"It was surprising and great, and it felt really good."

White transferred to Salisbury this year, a choice he says he made because of the success of the track and field program. And now he's found his own success. He also broke the standing school record for the triple jump by a foot, nailing 46'6".

And although he's taking a minute to soak it in, he's not willing to rest.

"Oh, yeah, I'm working on knocking that down," White laughed. "I'm knocking down my own record."
