Bennett Middle Hosts Edible Book Competition

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Students at a Salisbury middle school spent the day making 'eating your words' actually seem appetizing.

More than two dozen Bennett Middle students baked cakes on Monday in the shape of their favorite books and book characters. Some of them ranging from Finding Nemo to The Hunger Games.

The school tells WMDT that the students would read any book they wanted before bringing that story to life as an edible arrangement.

"It teaches you like new things and you get to express your book," said Theresa Trick.

"It made it fun when we were able to get like our ideas on our cake," said Chloe Lewis.

"It's kind of like an artist," said Zahra Siddiqui. "You see something and you start painting it and that's with our cake."

The winner received $50 in Book Fair bucks to spend at this year's Book Fair.
